Top Core brokers Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes are leaving the firm due to Eklund’s involvement in Bravo’s New York City edition of “Million Dollar Listing,” Core confirmed today.

“Million Dollar Listing” competes with Core’s HGTV show, “Selling New York.”

Eklund is a managing director at Core, while John Gomes is a senior vice president. The two had formed a team at Core.

“Fredrik has an exciting opportunity to be a part of a new
reality series, and given our exclusive arrangement with HGTV, he could not stay at CORE and be a part of that series,” said Core CEO
Shaun Osher in a statement to The Real Deal.  “I truly appreciate everything he and John have done for Core
and I wish them well in their new endeavor.”

In a New York Times profile this weekend that chronicled Eklund’s past as an adult film star, Eklund talked about potentially having to leave the firm.

“Life is a big tasty smorgasbord,” he told the Times. “And there are a lot of really good-looking sandwiches to try.”
No word yet on where the two are heading.

Eklund and Gomes were not immediately available for comment.
