Texas’ Tony Sanchez sells NYC pad

A.R. “Tony” Sanchez, the Texan investor and one-time Democratic gubernatorial hopeful in his home state, has sold his 3,549-square-foot pied-à-terre at the Metropolitan Tower for $7.775 million, according to the Observer. Sanchez bought and combined two units at the top floor of the 142 West 57th Street condominium for $2.9 million in 2000. The five-bedroom pad first hit the market for $15 million in May 2008, and went through several brokers and price cuts before the Corcoran Group’s Marlene Steiner picked up the listing in May 2009, asking $8.9 million. Steiner said “even that was a very aggressive price” for the building, since no unit had yet broken the $7 million mark. [NYO]
