Berkshire Hathaway executive Ajit Jain, who is seen as one of the front-runners to succeed Warren Buffett at the company’s helm, has purchased a four-bedroom apartment at One Beacon Court for $14.65 million, sources told the Wall Street Journal. It’s the second unit in The 151 East 58th Street condominium for Jain, who bought Ponzi schemer Marc Dreier’s neighboring unit at auction for $8.3 million in 2009. Brokers suggested that Jain intends to combine the units, which would create an almost 6,000-square-foot spread with eight bedrooms and the largest private outdoor space in the building, which Beyonce and Brian Williams also call home. Victoria Shtainer of Prudential Douglas Elliman had the listing, which was asking $16.5 million. [WSJ]
