Pro violinist buys condo at UWS’ Rushmore

The Rushmore and violinist Pinchas Zukerman
Pinchas Zukerman, a world-renown violinist and a teacher at the Manhattan School of Music, has gone into contract on a three-bedroom unit at the Rushmore condominium, with his wife, cellist Amanda Zukerman, the New York Times reported. The asking price for the 1,712-square-foot 23rd-floor apartment, at 80 Riverside Boulevard, was $2.734 million. The developers, Extell Development Company, who are involved in a $16 million escrow dispute at the building, would not disclose how much Zukerman paid. The Zukermans’ main residence is in Ottawa, but since moving to New York from Israel in 1962, Pinchas has lived in various apartments and houses in places including Manhattan and Snedens Landing, N.Y., an enclave of actors and artists in Rockland County. He has also bought property in Montauk, and near Santa Fe, N.M. Zukerman said he will start moving into the Rushmore in March. He said he felt it was a good time to invest in Manhattan real estate and was looking forward to being a New York homeowner again. He was also excited about a soon-to-be neighbor at the Upper West Side building — Yankee Alex Rodriguez “I don’t know him, but I think it says miles about the kind of people who are going to walk in there and buy,” Zukerman said.
