A 5,385-pound sculpture was installed yesterday on the roof of 305 West 16th Street, a Chelsea condominium on the corner of Eighth Avenue, according to developer Centaur Properties (see video of the installation above). The condo, which hasn’t set prices on its 53 units yet, is slated to hit the market this spring, offering studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The sculpture, which was featured at 2006’s Burning Man Festival, a music and art event held in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, is called “Perhaps.” It features a 12-foot-tall vase with mosaic daisies. Harlan Berger, a principal with Centaur, said that he chose the sculpture because it fit with “the artistic sensibility of Chelsea.” TRD
