Saunders buys SusanBreitenbach.com, forwards it to his own website

Poor Susan Breitenbach. The Corcoran Group broker, who, along with her son Matthew, sold more than $210 million worth of East End real estate last year, has been waiting for years to buy her domain name, but it was always registered to someone trying to squeeze thousands of dollars out of a sale.

Then, just when SusanBreitenbach.com became available, it was scooped up from under her nose by none other than competitor Andrew Saunders of Saunders Real Estate, who paid $12.17 for the page and automatically set it up to redirect to SaundersRE.com.

According to Curbed, Corcoran attorneys just busted Saunders for his “sleazy” Web strategy, which may not actually be illegal but is certainly, as Saunders put it, “very aggressive.”

Matthew said he’s less concerned now with owning the domain than with Saunders trying to capitalize on his and his mother’s success. (“It takes more than domain names to compete against us in the Hamptons,” he boasted).

While the disagreement is being sorted out by attorneys on both sides, Saunders has temporarily stopped the automatic forwarding.

But not to worry: Saunders has still got a slew of other search engine-friendly sites in his online portfolio, including, he said, almost every street and place name on the East End that was availlable, as well as the names of other top brokers in the area. He bought Saunders’ current website, HamptonsRealEstate.com, for $100,000.

“If anything that we do is deemed to be improper… we would certainly stop doing it,” Saunders said. [Curbed]
