Eric Rudin closes on 16-room co-op apartment

Eric Rudin, vice chairman and president of residential management firm Rudin Management, has just closed on a 16-room triplex apartment in one of Manhattan’s most sought-after buildings at 10 Gracie Square between East End Avenue and East River Drive on the Upper East Side, according to Curbed.

In what must have been a relatively tough process, the apartment went into contract in May 2010 and took a full year to close, eventually selling for $12 million, $500,000 short of its original asking price. The deal was brokered by Diane Johnson, senior vice president of Prudential Douglas Elliman.

The apartment has a view of Carl Shurtz Park from the library, the East River from the dining room and is accessed via a private elevator. Other residents of the building include Gloria Vanderbilt and Anderson Cooper.

The seller was the estate of Albert Gordon, the Wall Street hero credited with saving Kidder Peabody after the stock market crash of 1929. Gordon passed away in 2009 at the age of 107. [Curbed]
