DSK Tribeca townhouse back on the market
The Tribeca townhouse that former International Monetary Fund director
Dominique Strauss-Kahn rented earlier this summer after he was under
house arrest and charged with sexually assaulting a cleaning woman at
the Sofitel hotel, is back on the market now that the charges have been dropped, and Strauss-Kahn has returned to France, the New York Observer reported.
The property, at 153 Franklin Street in Tribeca, was listed Aug. 26,
three days after a Manhattan judge dismissed his case. The asking rent
is $50,000, the same price Strauss-Kahn, known as DSK, paid for the
apartment. Strauss-Kahn moved there in May with his wife after residents at an Upper East Side residence at 210 East 65th Street registered their disapproval about having him
as a neighbor.
The listing notes that the building has “exquisite top to bottom
renovation by famed architect/designer Leopoldo Rosati just completed
with only the finest materials and craftsmanship,” two bedrooms with
custom closets, and that the entire home features Italian cabinetry
with new windows and custom steel staircases. The 6,804 square-foot
house is available as a rental next Thursday, and is also still on the market for
sale at $13.995 million. According to Streeteasy.com, the house is listed at Town Real Estate by Robert Dvorin, Ian Wolf and Young Lee.
DSK, meanwhile, is back in France, where he lives in an apartment
building on the Place des Vosges in Paris. But even there he is not
completely welcome. The New York Times and Reuters reported that one
resident there yelled upon DSK’s return: “You are a disgusting
creature. Go and get cured somewhere else.” [NYO]
