Shoe designer Sam Edelman — who touts on his website to cater to celebrity clients including Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts and Katy Perry — is asking $3.2 million for his two-story Chelsea penthouse, which went on the market today.

The two-bedroom condominium at 133 West 22nd Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues is roughly 1,700 square feet, and features floor-to-ceiling windows, a fireplace and an outdoor terrace, said Tierney Model, an agent at Sotheby’s International Realty who is handling the listing. Situated on the top two floors of the 12-story building, the unit can be accessed from both levels, she said.

“You walk into the apartment and you just have this beautiful view of New York City,” Model said. “It’s a very sexy apartment.”

Edelman launched his eponymous brand in 2004 and now sells his designer shoes, imprinted with his signature on the soles, at hundreds of independent retailers and department stores across the U.S., as well as in 450 locations around the world, according to the company’s website.

Representatives for Edelman’s company did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Though Model could not confirm the seller’s identity beyond his occupation as a “famed shoe designer,” city records indicated that Edelman purchased the unit in March 2010 for $2.3 million.

Model was confident that the condo would sell quickly. A number of “power brokers” began calling this morning to set up showings for clients, she said, declining to comment on which brokers came knocking.

“Everybody seemed extremely interested,” Model said. “We have a lot of appointments lined up.”

Model is handling the listing with her mother, Leslie Model, and Chris Leavitt, both of whom are also agents at Sotheby’s.

The 100-unit doorman building was developed by Magnum Real Estate Group and designed by architect Cetra/Ruddy.

As The Real Deal previously reported, a 1,336-square-foot, two-bedroom on the building’s 10th story floor sold for $2.37 million in April.

Jessica Levine, a vice president at Prudential Douglas Elliman, who represented the seller, told The Real Deal in June that the apartment boasted an unusual number of televisions, all of which stayed after the sale.

“It had an outdoor TV, a TV in the bathroom [and] a projector in the living room,” Levine said.

In 2009, Marc Juris, general manager of truTV, reportedly paid $2.8 million for a three-bedroom condo in the building.
