“740 Park Avenue” author talks about upcoming 15 CPW book

Yesterday evening a senior vice president at the Corcoran Group, Wendy Sarasohn, hosted an intimate yet lavish book party at her Park Avenue apartment for author Michael Gross. His new book, “Unreal Estate: Money, Ambition, and the Lust for Land in Los Angeles,” chronicles the lives of those buying in the Platinum Triangle — Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Holmby Hills — through their real estate.

His last book, “740 Park Avenue: The Story of the World’s Richest Apartment Building,” was about the storied Upper East Side building where Jacqueline Onassis grew up. Last night Gross spoke about his pet subjects (the rich and powerful), the differences between the New York and L.A. (no one sells a Park Avenue co-op to a pornographer) and, most importantly, his next book “House of Outrageous Fortune,” which will focus on 15 Central Park West (although it is not yet written, he admitted). The party was co-sponsored and catered by the Pierre hotel and attendees included superstars of residential real estate such as Pamela Liebman of the Corcoran Group, Barbara Fox, president of Fox Residential, and John Burger of Brown Harris Stevens, who the Wall Street Journal has called “Manhattan’s number one broker.” — Guelda Voien
