Rose Associates will take over leasing, marketing and managing at the recently traded apartment tower 2 Cooper Square, a statement from the brokerage said. The 15-story rental property, between 4th and 5th streets in the East Village, offers studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments.
So far, 63 units of 143 have been rented, according to Streeteasy.com, with asking rents as high as $22,000 for a four-bedroom apartment, according to urbansherpa.com. Recently, Streeteasy.com shows a studio renting for $4,125 per month, and a one-bedroom for $4,625. The previous leasing agency appears to have been Cantor & Pecorella. Representatives of the company were not immediately available for comment.
Kuwaiti firm Wafra Investment Advisory purchased the asset from New York City-based Atlantic Development Group on behalf of institutional clients for about $134 million recently. The sale appeared in city records last week. Wafra outbid major apartment real estate investment trusts and pension funds for the building, according to a report from GlobeSt.com.
All units at 2 Cooper have oak hardwood floors, Bosch washer and dryers and stove and refrigerators by Liebhherr; many units offer private terraces, according to the statement.
Amy Rose, co-President of Rose Associates, called the neighborhood one of New York City’s “most stimulating,” in the statement. She added that “the common areas are anything but common, and the apartments themselves are beautifully appointed and generously sized.” — Guelda Voien
