Menswear retailer Rothman’s is putting the final touches to its new, bigger and fancier space at 222 Park Avenue South and East 18th Street, after over two decades in its current space one block south at 200 Park Avenue South, Racked reported, but its launch party faces a delay.
The store, which had intended to throw a party next Thursday to coincide with the opening the same day, had to delay the festivities because President Barack Obama will be holding a fundraiser next door at ABC Carpet & Home. Rothman’s bash will now be held next Friday.
The new space, which was designed by architecture firm Lalire March, the firm responsible for J.Crew and Barneys, takes up two levels in the building.
“We’re going to have half a city block of tailored clothing,” said Ken Gidden, co-owner and grandson of company founder Harry Rothman. [Racked]
