Professionals with a heavy hand in New York City real estate comprise at least one-fifth of Crain’s list of the top 40 New York business people under the age of 40 released today. They range from developers to lawyers to architects to activists. Among the honorees are Witkoff Group principal Scott Alper, 37, Friends of the High Line COO Melissa Fisher, 34, Sukanya Paciorek, the 33-year-old vice president of Vornado Realty Trust, Melissa Pianko, the 35-year-old executive vice president of the Gotham Organization, and Nicole Dosso, a 37-year-old associate director of Skidmore Owings & Merrill.

Alper was instrumental in Witkoff’s biggest deal in more than three years when he headed the $190.75 million acquisition of 1107 Broadway. Paciorek leads Vornado’s energy conservation efforts and helped earn LEED-certification for 10 of the firm’s properties in Manhattan. Meanwhile, Pianko is the lead executive behind Gotham’s 1,260-unit Gotham West development.

Other honorees were key players in government entities, including Willy Wong, 34, who is the chief creative officer of the city’s tourism agency, NYC & Company. Neal Kwatra, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s 38-year-old chief of staff who played a major role in the mortgage settlement, and Huey-Min Chuang, the 39-year-old senior director of the Empire State Development Corp. also cracked the list.
