Maysonet, husband depart Elliman for Sotheby’s

Real estate veteran Lisa Maysonet and her husband and partner Gary Kabol have departed Prudential Douglas Elliman for Sotheby’s International Realty, according to a statement today from Sotheby’s. Maysonet spilled the beans on Twitter yesterday before quickly deleting the tweet. It began: “After 20-plus years I decided to leave Douglas Elliman and have now officially joined Sotheby’s International.”

The husband-wife team are working out of Sotheby’s East Side office, at 38 East 61st Street, the statement said.

The team indicated that Sotheby’s international reach was a factor in the decision to move to the firm.

“We are thrilled to join a strong global brand like Sotheby’s International Realty that offers them the highest level of reach and visibility,” Maysonet said. “We are also excited about opportunities in new development that the company can offer.”

Kabol agreed. “We appreciate Sotheby’s International Realty’s sophisticated marketing capabilities, and believe that our clients will greatly benefit from the enhanced international profile,” he said in the statement.

Maysonet has 35 years of experience as a real estate agent as well as as an owner and investor. As a team Maysonet and Kabol are responsible for several billion dollars worth of real estate sales, the statement said. In 2009, Maysonet rented signer Rihanna her Soho apartment, for $18,000 per month.

“Lisa and Gary… are known for their ability to match clients with the homes that meet both their lifestyle and real estate requirements after only a minimal number of showings,” said Ellie Johnson, senior vice president at Sotheby’s.

Aric Boyles and Rina Sondhi were also members of Maysonet’s team at Elliman, according to her Group Maysonet website. It was unclear whether or not they would be joining Maysonet and Kabol at Sotheby’s.

Representatives for Elliman were not immediately available for comment. — Guelda Voien
