The State Liquor Authority has frozen the liquor license of Bungalow 8′s new reincarnation, DNAinfo reported. The soon-to-reopen venue, at 357 West 16th Street, allegedly hid its identity from Chelsea’s Community Board 4 when it applied for the license, DNAinfo said.

“Bungalow 8 — the name itself, the caché around it as a velvet-rope, late-night nightclub lounge with bottle service… that is not what the BLP Committee and the full board thought they were voting on when they voted to approve it,” said CB 4 Chairman Corey Johnson in a letter to the State Liquor Authority Monday.

The old Bungalow 8, on 27th Street between 10th and 11th avenues, was known for celebrities, exclusivity and a concierge service could book flights and order late-night pizza. The original club closed its door in 2009. [DNAinfo]
