Miron Properties opens first Brooklyn office

Residential brokerage Miron Properties has opened its first Brooklyn office in Greenpoint, founder Jeffrey Schleider told The Real Deal today, in order to accommodate increasing demand for properties in the area. The office, which will house 10 agents, is located at 162 Huron Street at a former clothing store called Methods. The firm is subleasing the space from Methods owner Dave Gee, who is moving the clothing business online. Gee is also getting his real estate license and plans on working part time for Miron, Schleider said.

“As we have expanded our market share in North Brooklyn, it made sense to open a dedicated Brooklyn office,” he added. “Greenpoint is a market that we believe has strong fundamentals and a lot of upside, so it was our first choice of locations in Brooklyn.”

Miron Properties has expanded to close to 50 agents in total in recent years. The firm has signed a one-year lease but will most likely stay longer, the founder said.

Schleider, who launched Miron Properties in 2009 after spending several years gaining industry experience at Anchor Associates and at the Corcoran Group, said the firm plans to hire four or five new agents to fill the space and has already begun interviewing several prospective employees. Schleider will be managing the office personally during the build-out phase, he said, but may later tap a Brooklyn broker to head up operations at the location.

The firm has been in expansion mode of late and recently launched a commercial division, which already has several listings in Greenpoint and Williamsburg, according to news reports.

This is the firm’s third office in total. Other locations include 90 East 10th Street in Manhattan and 140 County Road in Teaneck, NJ.
