Sofia Coppola sells downtown apartment for $2.75M

Screenwriter and director Sofia Coppola and her rocker husband Thomas Mars, of the band Phoenix, have sold their condominium home at 161 Grand Street, in Little Italy, for the asking price of $2.75 million, according to city records filed today. The home, which was listed for sale by the Corcoran Group in early February of this year, sold May 30, according to the deed.

Carter Wilcox and Chris Poore, both senior vice presidents at Corcoran, had the listing for the two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,771-square-foot home. According to the listing, the corner loft unit has open northern and eastern views of the city skyline, as well as a state-of-the-art kitchen. The building itself has a common roof garden, the listing says.

Neither Wilcox nor Poore immediately responded to requests for comment.

Coppola reportedly purchased an 18-foot-wide Townhouse On Morton Street in the West Village for $9.85 million — $1 million above the asking price. As The Real Deal reported last week, townhouse sales in Manhattan are on the upswing.

Coppola is the daughter of the director Francis Ford Coppola, and has two daughters of her own. She married Mars last summer.
