$48M townhouse hits the market
Interior designer lists 15-room house with Stribling
Renowned Chilean interior designer Juan Pablo Molyneux has listed his eccentrically styled townhouse at 29 East 69th Street for $48 million.
The 15-room home, between Park and Madison avenues, is listed with Marion Selig and Elizabeth Lorenzo of Stribling & Associates. According to Streeteasy.com, the listing hit the market on Friday.
Molyneux has owned the six-story home, which includes a duplex roof garden with a pool and sun deck, since 1990, according to public records.
Selig and Lorenzo were not immediately available for comment, and a woman who answered the phone at the home declined to comment on the listing.
The house has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, according to the listing, as well as four outdoor spaces, a gym, spa, media room and staff quarters.
According to his website, Moylneux has designed private residences in the U.S., South America, Europe, Russia and the Middle East. He has also worked on public spaces such as the Pavilion of Treaties for the Federation of Russia in St. Petersburg.
Molyneux told Architectural Digest in 2006 that he splits his time between New York and Paris.
“When I’m in Paris, I want to be in New York, and when I’m in New York, I want to be in Paris,” he told the publication. “I miss the people, my dogs, the character of the city.”
In the listing photos, the designer’s touch is evident. The home features ornate interiors, including touches of marble, lavish embroidered gold upholstery and even a tiger-skin rug.
The townhouse is the ninth most expensive residential listing to come on the market this year and is the fifth most expensive townhome currently on the market in the city, according to Streeteasy. Other pricey townhouses currently for sale include the Woolworth Mansion at 4 East 80th Street, asking $90 million, and the Lehman Art House at 7 West 54th Street, asking $65 million.
