Rockaways house sells for a record $5.1M

A beach home in the Rockaways community of Neponsit, Queens has sold for the highest amount ever recorded for a single-family home in the borough, the New York Daily News reported.

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom waterfront home, on Beach 146th Street, sold for $5.1 million, shattering the previous record of $3.7 million, the News said. The home had been listed at $6.2 million. The sellers bought the property for $1.5 million, in 1998.

“This sale shows how prestigious the Rockaways have become,” Lisa Jackson of Rockaway Properties, who listed the home, told the News. “It’s definitely the premiere neighborhood in Queens.” [NYDN]
