En route to the Hamptons? Expect traffic

New York City is slated to experience the worst traffic in the nation this weekend, as residents flee to the margins of our metro area for one last day at the beach, the New York Observer reported.

The trip out to the Hamptons could take up to four and a half hours, figures from Seattle-based traffic monitoring firm INRIX show, according to the Observer.

And it doesn’t take much to make traffic even worse. Earlier this week, an accident in water Mill involving a Jitney, a Mercedes and a dump truck stalled traffic on the Montauk highway for hours after the driver spilled his drink, Curbed reported. [NYO] and [Curbed] — Guelda Voien
