Spanish contemporary artist Domingo Zapata, famed for his abstract expressionist paintings of subjects including actress Lindsay Lohan, is on the lookout for a new home in New York.
The wealthy artist, whose relationship with Lohan appears to extend beyond the artistic, has been setting up showing appointments with “Million Dollar Listing New York” broker Ryan Serhant via Twitter. Zapata and Serhant are set to view a West Village townhouse on Downing Street today, according to Serhant’s Twitter page.
Zapata and Lohan made headlines just last week when the troubled actress hit a pedestrian while driving Zapata’s Porsche in New York City. The artist reportedly lends Lohan the vehicle every time she’s in the city. The incident occurred just outside the Dream Downtown Hotel on West 16th Street, where Zapata’s work is regularly exhibited. In September, a reveler at the hotel vandalized one of Zapata’s paintings, named “Avion – Life is a Dream,” worth an estimated $500,000.
Zapata and Lohan were also spotted leaving the Bowery Hotel together last week, prompting speculation by bloggers such as Perez Hilton that the pair was romantically linked.
Zapata reportedly lives and works at the Bowery Hotel when in New York and at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont when he’s in California. Perhaps now he’s looking for a more traditional home.
Among The Townhouses For Sale On Downing Street is a $9.5 million townhouse at 23 Downing Street listed by Todd Lewin of Good Property. The 4,600-square-foot home has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. Perhaps a more likely option, however is a $7.4 million, 5,094-square-foot townhouse listed by another “Million Dollar Listing” star, Luis D. Ortiz of Keller Williams. As The Real Deal first reported, Ortiz is slated to join the cast for the second season of the hit Bravo show. Nest Seekers’ Serhant does not appear to have any of his own listings on Downing Street.
Serhant declined to comment on his relationship with Zapata. The artist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
