You won’t see Matthew Modine’s latest film in theaters; instead, it’s on Halstead’s website. The brokerage has produced a new web video (see above) to promote Modine’s Chelsea apartment, which is on the market for $2.29 million. The listing came online yesterday, according to Streeteasy.com.
Modine, known for his roles in “Full Metal Jacket” and more recently in “The Dark Knight Rises,” narrates a portion of the video — telling viewers about the features of his apartment at Loft 25 at 420 West 25th Street. He describes the home’s 17-foot ceilings, its Nordic Ash hardwood floors and its private outdoor space.
And at the end of the video — surprise! There’s Modine on camera telling the listing agent, Halstead’s Mark Friedman, that he’s off to Madison Square Garden to “watch the New York Knickerbockers.”
The accompanying listing fills in the rest of the information about the loft duplex, namely the size (one bedroom, 2.5 bathrooms, 1,668 square feet) and building amenities (attended lobby, fitness center, landscaped roof deck).
City records show that Modine purchased the home in 2008 for $1.73 million. Other units currently for sale in the building range in price from $820,000 for a 733-square-foot one bedroom to $1.9 million for a 1,409-square-foot one-bedroom, according to Streeteasy. In addition, a 1,036-square-foot studio sold this month for $965,000.
