Babyface and 241 East 52nd Street

A Midtown townhouse which once belonged to legendary R&B record producer Babyface has hit the rental market asking $23,740 a month.

Babyface, who has produced tracks for the likes of Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men and Madonna, owned the home, at 241 East 52nd Street, between 1998 and 2004, according to public records. It is now appears to be owned by Connecticut-based attorney Larry P. Coassin of the law firm of Robinson & Cole.

The home is listed for rent by Tristan Harper of Prudential Douglas Elliman. Harper was not immediately available for comment.

The townhouse, located between Second and Third avenues, totals 3,150 square feet and features a garden and “livable” basement, according to the listing. It also has a “through-wall” music system, security system and a wine cellar.

Records show Babyface, also known as Kenneth Edmonds, sold the property to Coassin for $2.95 million in 2004. It was not immediately clear what he and wife, Tracey, paid for the home. The music mogul has also penned songs for Carole King, Diana Ross and Patti LaBelle, among other talents.
