The sprawling Upper East Side condominium of retired Yankees catcher Jorge Posada has traded hands, for $9.5 million — $200,000 above its most recent asking price, according to Streeteasy. Adam Modlin of Modlin Group had the listing, but declined to comment on the sale.

The home first hit the market on Dec. 7 of last year, asking $11.5 million — and underwent three price cuts, the latest of which brought the ask down to $9.3 million.

Located inside the Seville at 300 East 77th Street, the full-floor condominium unit measures 5,600 square feet. There are four bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms and an option to convert a room into an additional bedroom, according to the listing. The master suite has his and hers baths, which have spa showers, walk-in closets and dressing areas. The home also has a media room and a kitchen with double Wolf ovens and teak cabinetry.

The full-floor unit previously stood as two separate units: 11A and 11B, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. Posada originally purchased 11B in October 2003 for $3.2 million, according to public records. Unit 11A then became available, and Posada purchased it for $3.6 million in August 2007, public records show.

A five-time All-Star, Posada announced his retirement from the Yankees in 1990, after 17 years as a major league player with the team. Previous reports say that the Puerto Rican-born player has a family home in Tampa, Fla.,where the Yankees have their spring training facilities.

The above-ask sales price was the result of a bidding war, said the source. “If anybody’s looking for an apartment that’s over 5,000 square feet, that’s turnkey, that has all the amenities, there’s not that much out there,” the source said.

The Seville was designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern, and rises 31 stories. Built in 2001, the condo, located near Second Avenue, has a 3,295-square-foot health club, a terrace and a parking garage.

Modlin is making a name for himself as the broker-to-the-Yankees. Earlier this year, baseball star Ichiro Suzuki hired Modlin to help him find an apartment for the remainder of baseball season. And Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez listed his Rushmore home with Modlin, and the unit traded hands earlier this year.
