There is nothing new about using art to market a listing. Having a show of the broker’s own artistic efforts in the unit they are currently marketing is, indeed, more unusual. Yet that is precisely what Fredrik Eklund, a Douglas Elliman broker and a star of Bravo’s real estate reality show “Million Dollar Listing New York” did at 50 Lispenard Street, according to the New York Observer.
The penthouse is listed for $4.55 million in the six-unit building, which Eklund is exclusively marketing. Eklund displayed 25 of his photographs in the unit for an event held Wednesday night, all of which sold, he told the Observer.
“I take photos with my Leica, Canon and iPhone5 and have photographed since I was 6 years old,” Eklund wrote about his work.
Sources also told the Observer that Bravo’s camera’s were present at the event —collecting footage for the next season of MDLNY. Attendees included Douglas Elliman CEO Dottie Herman, Miss New York USA Amber Collins and controversial “Piss Christ” artist Andres Serrano. [NYO] —Christopher Cameron
