Duo of Essex House units trade for $8.6M

Miami buyer snags pad on the market since April 2011

Adjoining, combined units inside the Essex House at 160 Central Park South have sold for a total of $8.55 million, according to city records filed today. A company identified as Miami-based Hideca U.S.A. Inc. sold the units to Christopher R. Uzpen Interactive Brokers, who was identified in court documents under the LLC 160 Central Park South #150704.

According to Streeteasy, the combination unit totals 2,200 square feet and boast views of Central Park. It has two bedrooms and three bathrooms, and was first listed in April 2011 for $8.995 million; the sale closed on Dec. 11. The Essex House has 509 hotel rooms and 35 residential units.

The famed hotel was purchased by Strategic Hotels & Resorts for $362.3 million in August, as previously reported. The property was renamed the JW Marriott Essex House. Marriott subsequently signed a 50-year management agreement to operate the hotel, which guaranteed it a net operation income of as much as $21.5 million annually for eight years.

The combined units were listed by Cecilia Serrano of Stribling & Associates, who did not immediately respond to phone calls seeking comment.
