LES demolition makes way for 290-room hotel

Demolition at 180 Orchard Street between East Houston and Stanton streets is now underway, making room for the Indigo Hotel, Bowery Boogie reported. Currently, the site contains an incomplete two-story building, which is being dismantled by remote-controlled demolition robots, Department of Buildings records indicate.

The building will rise 24 stories high, Bowery Boogie said. As The Real Deal previously reported, the property will contain 290 rooms, is being developed by Brack Capital Real Estate with Intercontinental Hotels Group, which purchased the site for $46 million in 2011.
