Mexican soccer star Rafael Marquez is seeking a buyer for his New York apartment just three months after he was released prematurely from his $4.6 million a year contract with the New York Red Bulls team, The Real Deal has learned.

Marquez, who moved to the Mexican team Leon after a disappointing two seasons with the New York team late last year, has listed his Chelsea pad at 257 West 17th Street for sale, according to StreetEasy. The property, a six-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom apartment on the seventh floor, is listed by Kirk Rundhaug and Paige Neuhauser of Douglas Elliman and is asking $10.95 million.

Marquez purchased the 4,000-square-foot apartment for $6.39 million in 2010, records show, several months after he joined the Bulls on a 3.5-year agreement. His time playing for Gotham was plagued by absences as a result of injury and suspension, it was previously reported, and he took the field in only 48 percent of the matches during his stint on the team.
