Compared to its 10- to 12-mile obstacle courses — which feature barbed wire, electric zaps and names like “Arctic Enema” and “Ball Shrinker” — Tough Mudder’s sublease negotiations at 15 Metrotech Center must have seemed like a breeze. The self-proclaimed “hardcore” obstacle course event company is in talks to take roughly 70,000 square feet of office space at the Forest City Ratner-owned building, located in Downtown Brooklyn, Crain’s reported.
The sublease, being offered up by Wellpoint, a healthcare company, would last until 2020. The deal would include two floors in the 19-story property, with asking prices in the $20s per square foot. The transaction has not yet closed.
This deal would mark a relocation for Tough Mudder, which currently has smaller office space at 63 Pearl Street in Dumbo. The company has grown to $25 million in revenue in 2012 from $2 million in 2010, Crain’s said, as founder Will Dean brought the events around the world.
