Developer inks 90K sf lease in Gowanus
Tenant plans a multimillion-dollar overhaul of the property
UPDATED, 1:25 p.m., May 28: A development group led by Sam Boymelgreen has signed a triple net lease of a 90,000-square-foot loft at 255 Butler Street, between Nevins and Bond streets, in Brooklyn, according to a news release from Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates, which arranged the deal.
With the 49-year lease, Boymelgreen of 255 Butler Street Associates LLC plans a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of the multi-story Gowanus site. It is located a few blocks from the development site of the Lightstone Group’s planned 700-unit rental apartment complex, as well as the under-construction Whole Foods at Third Avenue and 3rd Street.
Nathan and Solmi Accad bought the property in 2003 for their novelty business, the release said. Bob Klein of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates brokered that deal, as well as this lease. — Mark Maurer
