Rumored Tom Cruise townhouse belongs to casino developer

Despite rumors, the townhouse property at 42 West 12th Street does not belong to Scientologist actor Tom Cruise, the New York Post reported. The home, which is currently on the market with a $28 million asking price, actually belongs to casino mogul Richard Fields.

Cruise had been pegged as the buyer of the property in 2009, and subsequent media reports listed it as one of the assets at issue in his divorce with actress Katie Holmes last year.

But a spokesperson for Brown Harris Stevens, whose Kyle Blackmon has the listing for the home, told The Real Deal last month that the home has nothing to do with Cruise.

“The owner of 42 West 12th Street is not Tom Cruise nor any entity related to him,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “The seller is a private individual who deserves to have their privacy respected and as such Brown Harris Stevens will not provide any information regarding the owner.”

Fields previously worked with Donald Trump before developing casinos on his own.

The home measures 8,300 square feet and has 2,000 square feet of exterior space across five terraces. There’s also an elevator and seven fireplaces.
