It seems the bloom is off the rose for this Carnegie Hill townhouse. Lynn Jawitz, a famed florist who more than two years ago listed her home for $24.5 million, has enlisted a new broker and slashed the price by more than $3 million, StreetEasy shows.
Jawitz, the owner of Florisan, a wedding and party flower company based in Manhattan, has hired townhouse specialist Paula Del Nunzio of Brown Harris Stevens to sell the home at 5 East 93rd Street.
Jawitz is known among “Japanese socialites and rock stars alike as the floral designer of choice” for brides, according to her company’s website. A former stockbroker at Merrill Lynch, Jawitz touts her proficiency at English, Dutch and Japanese floral arts, reports show.
She originally listed the property in March 2011 with Stephen Salmon of Salmon and Company, before pulling it off the market last week. It resurfaced with a $21 million price tag today. Del Nunzio did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Even at the reduced price, Jawitz could still stand to rake in some green on the sale. She and her husband bought the home in 1997 for $3.95 million, city records show. Jawitz then bought the property personally for $4.25 million in April 2002, records show. News reports show Jawitz divorced the same year.
Jawitz restored the townhouse, originally built in 1892, and won an interior design award for the restoration. The six-bedroom, six-bathroom, 6,300-square-foot home features a wood-burning fireplace, elevator and original details in the ceilings and mantelpieces, the most recent listing says.
