A floor-through residence at 18 Gramercy Park South sold for $15.175 million, according to the New York Times.

Simon Lonergan and his wife, Amelie, purchased the apartment in what was the most expensive sale in the city of the week. Simon is a partner at Behrman Capital, while Amelie is an adviser at Credit Suisse Securities. It is unclear if the couple used a broker for the purchase.

The 4,207-square-foot unit, which sold for its original listing price, has four bedrooms and four baths. The monthly carrying charges are $11,200.

Originally built in 1927, the landmark brick building at Irving Place was previously a Salvation Army housing depot for women. Now, it houses 16 luxury condominiums after being redesigned by developers Zeckendorf Development and Eyal Ofer and architect Robert A.M. Stern, the same team behind 15 Central Park West.

Late last year, the penthouse at the building sold for $42 million to Leslie Alexander, a former stock trader and owner of the basketball team the Houston Rockets.

The second-largest sale of the week was that of a seven-room condo at 250 West Street opposite Piers 25 and 26 at Hudson River Park for $8.2 million. [NYT] – James Comtois
