A new community group called Preserve Park Slope is campaigning to block Methodist Hospital’s expansion plans.

The group cited the likely destruction of up to 15 brownstones, massive construction, an influx of additional hospital employees, traffic and ambulance noises as concerns in a statement to Fucked in Park Slope.

Hospital officials began notifying area residents of expansion plans in June, but have otherwise kept most details under wraps.

The proposed building will reportedly be up to seven stories high and include a new surgery center, endoscopy suite and cancer center, as well as a conference center.

Construction is not expected to begin for at least a year, and hospital officials have noted that four of the brownstones in the wrecking ball’s path are not landmarked. [FiPS] — Julie Strickland
