Carved out of two units at the Fairchild, a luxury condominium in Tribeca, a 4,000-square-foot triplex apartment is poised to hit the market asking $9.5 million.

The opulent home, owned by Gizman Abbas, a financier and developer – he is currently building a four-unit condominium at 449 Washington Street – was thoroughly renovated in 2010.

The renovation changed almost everything, save the kitchen. The modern staircase was replaced with a sweeping marble and iron Baroque imitation. The 23-foot, window-lined walls were given automatic blackout shades, and the floors were replaced with white oak in the style of the Palace of Versailles. Even the bathrooms were upgraded using $6,500 automatic toilets with heated seats from Japan, according to the New York Times.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom apartment, which is located at 415 Washington Street, also features a 450-square-foot patio, elevator and a private entrance. Josh Doyle and Nick Gavin of the Corcoran Group have the listing. [NYT]Christopher Cameron
