A Bronx landlord was sentenced to 30 days in jail after failing to make hundreds of repairs to a run-down 12-unit rental building at 1547 Commonwealth Avenue.

Bronx Housing Court Judge Jerald Klein said James Caban ignored all requests by the city to fix the four-story building’s many problems. The property has 308 open violations.

The city has paid $115,000 to date on emergency repairs such as removing lead, providing fuel for boilers and halting water leaks. There is now a warrant out for Caban’s arrest. The landlord’s lawyer did not comment to the New York Daily News.

“If you neglect your property and your tenants, disregard your legal responsibilities, and defy court orders, we will seek the maximum penalties available under the law,” RuthAnne Visnauskas, commissioner of the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, told the Daily News.
