The Zoitas family-owned Westside Market will soon open a fifth location in the East Village near Union Square.

The grocer will set up shop in an 18,817-square-foot space in YYY Third Avenue LLC’s 84 Third Avenue. A sprawling 10,500 square feet on the ground floor will house the store, while an additional 8,317 square feet on the lower level will also be used by the company.

“There was a noticeable gap in the market for food retailers in this area,” Ariel Schuster, executive vice president of RKF, said in a prepared statement cited by the New York Observer. “The large resident and student populations in the area will provide an excellent customer base for the Westside Market.”

Stu Morden of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank Retail represented Westside Market in the deal, while Schuster, Zach Winkler and Taryn Talmadge of RKF represented the landlord.

The building, currently in the process of being redeveloped, is to open in the summer of 2014. [NYO] Julie Strickland
