Home of Park Slope’s “original gentrifiers” shaves 20% off townhouse ask

The asking price for historic preservation pioneers Evelyn and Everett Ortner’s Park Slope brownstone, purchased for $32,000 in 1963, just got $1 million cheaper.

Listed last month for $4.8 million, the 272 Berkeley Place pad just dropped the ask to a mere $3.8 million.

The Ortners were dubbed “the original gentrifiers” by the New York Times in 2004, thanks to their purchase of the four-story home built in 1886. They followed the purchase by working to convince friends to relocate to the nabe, then worked for historic preservation around Park Slope.
