The November issue is live!

For New York City’s biggest residential real estate brokerages, competing for listings is something of a blood sport, one that continues to get more frenzied amid an inventory shortage. To find out which firms reign supreme in which areas of the city, The Real Deal pored over thousands of for-sale listings in 50 different neighborhoods across Manhattan and Brooklyn, for our November cover story “Who has the tightest grip on NYC?” now available online.

Dolly Lenz bidding adieu to Douglas Elliman earlier this year sent shock waves through the industry, with many speculating that the relationship between the super-broker and the city’s biggest brokerage had gone foul. Since then, Lenz has already bagged $384 million in listings. But can she sustain her spectacular success without Elliman? We get behind the lens of Lenz in “Dolly’s next act.”

Turning to the campaign trail, Bill de Blasio’s rhetoric about taking developers to task had the industry nervous, but we look at what the candidate’s real views on real estate are, in “A tale of two de Blasios.”  We also chronicle how real estate players, ever the pragmatists, have had to dial down on their enthusiasm for de Blasio’s GOP rival Joe Lhota.
