One of the buildings at the former Eberhard Pencil Factory in Greenpoint, namely 74 Kent Street, is up for grabs.

Three stories tall and spreading across 17,485 square feet, the brick building was constructed in 1931 as one of Eberhard Faber’s lead-pencil factories. In recent years, the current owner, listed as 243 Kent Realty LLC on PropertyShark, has attempted to convert the building into residential condominiums but has butted heads with the Landmarks Preservation Commission, Brownstoner reported.

The owner’s last showdown with the LPC was in early October, when the commission was mulling over an application to change the front facade, construct a rear extension and excavate the yard in back of the building.

Representatives from CPEX Realty, which is marketing the property, told Brownstoner they would disclose the property’s asking price later today. [Brownstoner]Julie Strickland
