Workspace provider Makeshift Society signs first NYC lease

 WEEKENDEDITIONThe San Francisco-based collaborative workspace Makeshift Society is making the leap to increasingly tech savvy New York City. The firm has signed a 5,775-square-foot ground-floor lease at 55 Hope Street in Williamsburg.

The new office space is at the base of a recently developed 11-unit luxury apartment building, whose residents Makeshift Society hopes to serve, according to the New York Observer.

“The ground floor space at 55 Hope Street features 18-foot ceilings and a windowed lower level, offering tenants both visibility and value,” Mark Tergesen of ABS Partners said in a statement. “Ownership was seeking an innovative and dynamic tenant to serve as an amenity for the building and the neighborhood.

The five-year lease was negotiated by Ashkan Zandieh of ABS Partners on behalf of the tenant. Tergesen represented the landlord. [NYO]Christopher Cameron
