WEEKENDEDITION There’s good news for the New York City building owners who saw their properties vandalized with highly desirable art during the UK street artist Banksy’s October residency. A piece of wall from a Hollywood gas station has sold for $209,000 at auction.

The 9-by-8 foot stenciled painting titled “Flower Girl,” which depicts a young girl holding a flower basket while being watched by a surveillance camera, sold to an anonymous Los Angeles buyer.

In October, the artist angered and honored several NYC landlords after painting on their buildings, forcing the owners in some circumstance to higher private security to control hoards of art fans. [NYP] –Christopher Cameron
