UPDATED: 2:27 P.M., Dec. 10: Mega developer the Related Companies has expanded its luxury leasing team in Manhattan with the addition of two vice presidents, a spokesperson for the firm told The Real Deal exclusively.

Laura Kosik, who previously managed properties for Related, and Christopher Schmidt, current head of leasing and marketing for Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village, will handle leasing at existing luxury buildings like the Caledonia and the Lyric, as well as at the many new developments Related has in the pipeline.

The current leasing team has 40 leasing agents overseeing 20 sites and more than 6,000 luxury rental properties, a Related spokesperson told The Real Deal.

Kosik, who previously managed various properties in her role as direct leasing manager at Related, will handle leasing at the company’s properties in Chelsea, Tribeca and Union Square, according to a statement provided exclusively to TRD. This will include leasing at the nearly complete 500 West 30th Street, a 32-story rental designed by Robert A.M. Stern that will boast 386 units, according to previous reports.

Schmidt, a veteran of AvalonBay Communities, where he oversaw marketing, most recently served as managing director of leasing and marketing for massive Stuyvesant Town, which has struggled with litigation over rent regulations in recent years. Schmidt will handle leasing on the Upper West and Upper East Sides for Related, the statement said. That will include the forthcoming 205 East 92nd Street, a 35-story tower Related is building in collaboration with Handel Architects, between Second and Third avenues on the Upper East Side.

“We are pleased to promote Laura, as well as welcome Christopher to the Related team,” said Daria Salusbury, senior vice president of operations at Related, who will oversee both Kosik and Schmidt. “Both Laura and Christopher’s distinct skill sets and experience within this sector will further strengthen our talented team. Each will play vital roles in the growth of our portfolio.”

A spokesperson for Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village told TRD that Schmidt decision to depart was of his own volition and that they wish him well.

Schmidt and Kosik were not immediately available for comment.

“They will bring a depth and breadth of resources including research, product development and an international marketing reach,” Related president Jeff Blau said of Corcoran Sunshine in a release”
