The wife of the 30-year-old lawyer who was killed during a carjacking at the Mall at Short Hills in New Jersey on Sunday night is an attorney at Adam Leitman Bailey’s namesake real estate law firm.

Dustin Friedland, a resident of Hoboken, N.J., was driving a $70,000 2012 Range Rover in the mall parking lot with his 27-year-old wife, Jamie Schare Friedland. Two armed men ordered him out of the car. Then, as Dustin tried to protect his wife, the men shot and killed him. Jamie was not injured.

“Dustin was rational, intelligent and had great judgment,” Bailey told the New York Daily News. “I highly doubt that he fought the attackers to save his car. I do believe he would fight for his wife’s life.”

The couple had been planning to start a family, Bailey told the Daily News. [NYDN]TRD
