WEEKENDEDITION Want to impress your peers and business associates with a New York City area code? Thanks to a new website, it won’t cost you a fortune in rent or real estate to score a coveted 212 area code.

The website 212areacode.com is offering wannabe Manhattanites from across the country a faux NYC phone number, with a price tag that ranges from $100 to an astounding $15,000, according to the New York Post.

The company allows buyers pick to from dozens of available 212 phone numbers, and pay online via PayPal. Easy to remember phone numbers with more zeros tend to cost more than harder-to-remember numbers.

The site claims to be perfectly legal, coming after the phone service Vonage asked the FCC in March to free up unused 212 numbers. [NYP]Christopher Cameron

I’d sell my 212 area code for 15,000 in a blink.
