Developer Ben Shaoul, who heads up Magnum Real Estate Group, plans to build 43 apartments at 98 Avenue A in the East Village, according to city Department of Buildings records filed late last week.
The 37,042-square-foot site between East 6th and East 7th streets would hold more than 7,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor of its eight stories, BuzzBuzzHome reported. Amenities will include a laundry room, rooftop deck and bicycle storage.
Issac and Stern Architects was hired to design the building, which houses a theater and, most recently, the grocery store East Village Farms. Shaoul purchased the site for $15.5 million. Demolition permits were filed in June, BuzzBuzzHome reported. [BuzzBuzzHome] — Mark Maurer
