Fortuna Realty Group and hotelier Matthew Moinian’s Hudson Square hotel project has changed its name to Hotel Hugo from Soho Hotel.

The 122-room, 20-story property at 525 Greenwich Street between Spring and Vandam streets is slated to open in the next month or two, Hotel Chatter reported. The 166-foot-tall structure will feature an Italian eatery operated by restaurateur Sean Largotta on the ground floor; a cocktail lounge and a 17-foot glass façade in the lobby.

The rooms will either have a king-sized bed or two double beds.

Fortuna, led by developer Morris Moinian, bought the former parking garage site for $12.75 million at auction in 2011, as previously reported. [Hotel Chatter]Mark Maurer

slow news day? I didnt think a rename would cause a news article…especially when its not open.

I have heard that Matt Moinian hired the best designers and architects. He is importing all of his stone and tile from European countries and the best linens from Martha Stewart and other fine designers. He is going to feature the best chef like Bob Flay in the hotel restaurant and cafe which is going to serve sandwiches, soup and beer.
