Veteran real estate executive Carl Weisbrod, a partner at HR&A Advisors, is being eyed to fill Amanda Burden’s shoes as the new chair of the City Planning Commission.

Weisbrod was named co-chair of the transition team under Mayor Bill de Blasio in November, as previously reported. He is also known as founding president of the New York City Economic Development Corporation and former president of Trinity Real Estate.

Another contender for the spot is Vicki Been, executive director of the Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy at New York University, Crain’s reported, citing unnamed sources.

Sources told Crain’s that Weisbrod is the favorite, but might turn down a job offer due to his preference for private-sector work. [Crain’s]Mark Maurer
