The convenience store chain 7-Eleven has made a valiant New York City push over the last few years – building up a portfolio of 37 Manhattan stores. However, the Slurpee shop’s top four highest-grossing franchises aren’t in the city, but on Long Island.
Buoyed by summertime pleasure seekers, the top four highest-grossing 7-Elevens are located in East Patchogue, Southampton, Farmingville and Montauk, according to the New York Post.
The top-earning stop goes to the 653 Montauk Highway location, which according to franchisee Chris Stephens and a spokesperson for the Dallas-based chain, generates revenue in the low millions each year.
Customers spend an estimate $100,000 on beer and $50,000 on coffee each month. The franchise also sells between 500 and 800 Slurpees a day.
“Every week [in summer], it starts all over again,” Stephens told The Post. “It’s like a whole new group needs beach umbrellas, lawn chairs, suntan lotion and on and on.” [NYP] —Christopher Cameron
