The Upper West Side’s Calhoun School is angling to modernize its landmarked campus building on the corner of West End Avenue and 81st Street.

The plan would modify the prep school’s five-story building’s ground floor entrance and facades, alter adjacent exterior spaces and install a new mechanical unit on the roof.

The 433 West End Avenue plan will go before the Community Board 7 landmarks committee Thursday night, and must eventually pass muster before the Landmarks Preservcation Commission. [West Side Rag]Julie Strickland
